Butte Companies is owned and operated by two generations of an Arizona family plus a core of committed, experienced and talented associates. Butte Companies is committed to creating value by customizing each niche development opportunity to meet unserved market needs developing diversified and unique commercial and residential projects that include class “A” office buildings, upscale multi-family, commercial space and luxury residential towers. The company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona with a “sister company” operating out of Durango, Colorado.


Meet Developer Ed Lewis

After earning an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Colorado, Ed Lewis had successful careers of 8 years each at General Electric Company and Arizona Public Service. In 1985 he started Butte Construction Company and for 15 years built large commercial, retail and residential projects. In 1993 he began developing commercial property under the Butte name. Over the years he has created numerous multifamily, single family and Class A office Offices such as Kierland Corporate Center. With the completion of The Landmark, one of the most successful mid-rise residential condo projects in Arizona, Ed has successfully completed projects totaling more than $220,000,000. Ed is one of a select few that has delivered 50 custom multi-million dollar homes simultaneously with the completion of The Landmark’s sold out Tower I and another 48 in 2007 within  The Landmark Tower II. A longtime community activist, Ed has been involved in numerous Boards including Valley Partnership and Valley Leadership. In addition, he has served on the National Multi Housing Council Advisory Committee and the Town of Paradise Valley Planning and Zoning Commission. He is currently active in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and UMOM New Day Centers (Arizona’s largest shelter for homeless families).

Meet Vice President and Designated Broker Kirsten Brown

As Vice President of Butte Companies, Kirsten’s responsibilities include commercial and residential acquisition analysis, project management, construction warranties, overseeing tenant improvements, site research and development management. Kirsten is also the Owner & Designated Broker of Butte Realty, LLC and responsible for all sales staff, marketing and advertising. In 2005 she accepted a position with Butte Companies to work alongside her father, President Ed Lewis and her sister, Jaime Marquez who later moved to Colorado to oversee Butte’s Durango projects. Prior to joining the Butte team in 2005, Kirsten was in commercial sales as an office condo broker covering the Scottsdale market. She was a founding board member and past Chairman of both the Arizona District Council Women’s Leadership Institute and Young Leaders Group within the Urban Land Institute. She holds her Real Estate Brokers License in the State of Arizona, has a B.S. in Business from the University of Colorado and is Valley Leadership Alumni (Class 30). Kirsten has a passion for helping put an end to homelessness in Arizona and served many years on the Board of Directors for UMOM New Day Centers, Arizona’s largest shelter for homeless families.  Kirsten currently resides with her husband and three children in Scottsdale, her native hometown.


Meet Jaime Marquez, General Manager for Silver Peaks Condominium

Developer Ed Lewis’ eldest daughter, Jaime, is Vice President of Hillcrest I Condo Corporation and is General Manager for the conversion of Hillcrest Apartments (Phase I) to Silver Peaks Condominium Homes in Durango, Colorado. It is a blend of 130 one, two and three bedroom units along with a Clubhouse, Fitness Center, Business Center, Playground and Spa. Silver Peaks has been an industry leader over the last few years through the tough economic times as uniquely situated at the right price and at the right time. Priced under $250,000 and with FHA approval, Silver Peaks Condos remains today in Durango one of the few options for area residents to own. Her most recent responsibilities prior to Silver Peaks were as Vice President of Development for The Landmark Tower I, where she oversaw the ASID award winning design of the Clubhouse and common areas with the interior design team and contractors. Over her 11 years with Butte, she has acted as asset manager of existing properties, and been involved in design and development planning aspects of new projects in the Metropolitan Phoenix area and Southwest Colorado. Prior to joining Butte, Jaime’s experiences included brokerage, development, and marketing in various aspects of commercial real estate in the Phoenix market. Jaime was a founding member of the Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group for the Arizona District Council. She has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona, an active Arizona real estate license and an Associate Brokers license. She is married with three sons, Michael, Branden and Carson and lives in Durango Colorado.
